Ceiling Treatments – What You Should Know

By January 26, 2024February 23rd, 2024No Comments

Ceiling treatments are a creative way to transform a venue area into an intimate setting. Installing drapery panels lowers ceilings heights, hides flaws or undesirable lighting fixtures & finishes, and makes the atmosphere cozier. Add some soft lighting for an elegant glow and turn off those harsh overhead lights for a gorgeous statement piece.

Treatments can be added to several indoor venues (but not all). Each venue location takes separate consideration when exploring ceiling treatment options. Many of our past clients have also hired our team to install ceiling treatments in larger event tents, which make for a spectacular focal point.

The addition of string lighting, chandeliers, greenery garlands, floral treatments, and other statement pieces can really elevate your design to the next level and create that WOW factor.

Please note – with all ceiling treatments, our team will need several hours of uninterrupted time to install your work of art. The floor area will need to be clean, free & clear of all décor pieces, totes, chairs, and tables, as we will need to preform a lot of ladder work. For our team to retrieve the ceiling treatment, the same process will need to be followed.

Here are a few additional things to consider while pondering to invest in a ceiling treatment.

CEILING TREATMENTS IN A VENUE SETTING:

If you are not selecting a previously created ceiling treatment package and we are required to custom create an entirely new masterpiece, here is a little insight into the process…

  • In many instances we will need to meet with venue management/owners and board members in advance, write proposals, attend monthly meetings, etc., before approval is given for the ‘Go Ahead’ on the project.
  • A Venue Walk Through may be required to discuss ceiling treatment options with the client and the vision for the masterpiece. Our team may also need to take specialized measurements. Each venue requires separate consideration to be able to develop a quote for you.
  • Some installations require our team to install custom anchor points and cabling into the structure of the venue, which will allow the proper & safe installation of the ceiling treatment. This process needs to happen on a separate day and not on the day of the installation.
  • With new designs, a blueprint of the project will need to be created by our team. This process can take several hours or even months to create. It will all depend on how in-depth the look becomes. We may need to research new wholesalers to source supplies require to execute the design or we may be required to make several trips to the venue location to address certain factors.
  • As you can imagine, costs can accumulate quite quickly to accommodate the time needed to design a custom look. We will require a budget for your project in advance – before any services can begin and a $250.00 non-refundable Retainer/Design Fee to obtain our services.
  • It is the client’s responsibility to provide ALL IN THE DETAILS with the necessary information for this process. We will need to know appointment times for Venue Walk Throughs (to take measurements), access times & parameters for the installation & retrieval processes to take place (typically the day before/after the event), your event start/completion times, if you will require Off-Hour Services for installation/retrieval and if the venue is booked in advance for additional events (the day before/after your event). Failure to provide these details in advance will result in additional fees being added to your package.
  • We are willing to work with you to create a look within your budget parameters and can provide you with examples & pricing of previous creations.

CEILING TREATMENTS IN A TENTED SETTING:

This is one of our most sought-after services and we have been installing ceiling treatments in tents since 2017. We have assisted several clients with these treatments and are continually creating new looks/packages to choose from. Here are some key factors to consider…

  • We currently do not have/use tent liners in our inventory and service packages. Our team custom measures & installs individual lengths of drapery fabric for a custom fit, whereas a tent liner is a singular piece (very large) of fabric that is custom sewn to fit one specific style/size of tent (per liner).
  • ALL IN THE DETAILS have custom made our very own hardware pieces & clamps to aid in the installation of the drapery panels and lighting treatments.
  • Weather is a very important factor to consider. If the location of your tented event is in an area prone to frequent gusts of wind, this makes our job very difficult and sometimes near impossible to complete. It is advised to invest in sidewalls from your tent rental company, along with gutters to protect you and your guests from unfavorable weather conditions.
  • If you are requiring a lighting treatment within your tent(s), you will need to consider a power source. Will generators need to be brought in, or is there an external power source near by? You will also need to know how much power you will be drawing to sustain your event needs (lighting, sound equipment, catering supplies, etc.) – You don’t want to overload your circuit(s), blow breakers, fry equipment or worse yet – start a FIRE in the middle of your event.
  • The distance between your power source and where your tent will be placed will also need to be provided/known. This information is needed to have the appropriate amount of extension cords available upon our arrival to install your ceiling treatment. Please note – we do not include extension cords in our package pricing for tented events – however, we do have them available to rent. The reasoning behind this is – the logistics & requirements for each tented event are different, they take separate consideration and lengths of extension cords can very greatly.
  • It is the client’s responsibility to provide ALL IN THE DETAILS with the necessary information for this process. We will need to know the dates & times of when your tent will be delivered & collected. Access times & parameters for the installation & retrieval processes to take place (typically the day before/after the event), your event start/completion times, if you will require Off-Hour Services for installation/retrieval. Failure to provide these details in advance will result in additional fees being added to your package.
